Dupo: A Small Town in St Clair County, Illinois

The village of Dupo is located in St. Clair County, Illinois. Its population was 4,138 at the 2010 census, an increase from the previous year’s figure of 3,933. The village was settled around 1750 and incorporated in 1876. Its name is derived from “Common Fields of the Prairie du Pont.”

There are three public schools in the city. The area has many parks, golf courses, and other recreational opportunities. The school district is comprised of three different elementary schools. The Village of Dupo, which is a municipal corporation in Illinois, filed a complaint against the St. Clair County Housing Authority. The Village has the right to stop the housing project if it doesn’t meet its standards. The village can choose to complete the project or abandon it. In either case, the Village will need to negotiate with the Government to repay all the monies spent prior to rejecting the project.

The town of Dupo, Illinois is located near the city of Ottawa. The town was originally a French-speaking community. The town was named after the fleur-de-lys, the French royal emblem. Its current name, Dupo, is a contraction of the original French name, Prairie du Pont. The town’s names were changed to reflect this. In addition, the town was incorporated in 1907.
